Field Intelligence Officers Course

Course Aims

To provide knowledge and understanding of the management of police information.
To provide participants with a thorough knowledge of the intelligence system in respect of collation, retention and dissemination of any intelligence product.
To provide personnel with the knowledge and ability to fulfil the role of a Field Intelligence Officer.
To provide officers with the necessary acumen to perform the role of briefing officer in respect of NIM

  • Explanation of what is police information.
  • Purpose of managing police information.
  • Collation, retention and dissemination of any intelligence product.
  • Risk assessment in respect of dissemination of intelligence product.
  • Explanation of the 5×5×5 system in respect of evaluation and handling of any intelligence product.
  • Critical information areas.
  • Business areas for managing information.
  • Explanation of the Codes of Practice - intelligence.
  • Information sharing agreements.
  • The National Intelligence Model (NIM).
  • Identification of Information Providers in respect of Covert Human Intelligence Source (CHIS).
  • Explanation of Use and Conduct – CHIS.

Qualification

Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) Paralegal Vocational Qualification

Assessment

Objective examination based on Legislation, Codes of Practice – CHIS / Intelligence and Management of Police Information Manual.
