Course Aims

This qualification is aimed at people who would like or require an introduction to teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector i.e. Further Education, adult and community education, work based learning and the voluntary sector providing they are qualified /experienced in the subject they intend to teach.
It is also suitable for training personnel in commerce, industry, the public sector, the uniformed services or HM Forces.

Who should attend

This qualification has been designed as the appropriate introductory qualification for those seeking a 'stepping stone' to qualifications that entitle them to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector in England. It confers the newly required `threshold license to teach' for all new teachers in the Further Education (FE) Sector.

7304 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)
Certificate in Education or professional Graduate Certificate in Education for Post Compulsory Education and Training

Course Content

• One unit qualification, comprising of the following sections:
• 1. Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
• 2. Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the your specialist area
• 3. Demonstrate session planning skills
• 4. Understand how to deliver inclusive lessons which motivate learners
• 5. Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

City & Guilds 7303 – Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

Assessment

There are two assignments, one theory and one practical, both of which are broken down into smaller, prescriptive assignment tasks. The practical includes a microteaching session.
