Course Aims

To provide evidence of knowledge, understanding and competence for those who are responsible for the provision of cleaning and supporting services of building interiors.

Who should attend

The Level 2 NVQ in Cleaning and Support Services is designed for people who are involved in Cleaning and Support Services as their main work activity and wish to receive recognition for their Cleaning and Support Services experience. Also for those seeking a career in Cleaning and Support Services and wish to take the first steps towards a professional qualification.

Course Content

• Mapped against National Occupational Standards leading to an accredited qualification.
• Must complete 6 Units – Units 1 & 2 plus either Unit 3 OR 4 Mandatory Units
• UNIT 1 Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• UNIT 2 Communicate effectively with customers and others
• UNIT 3 Work as a team and develop yourself
• UNIT 4 Work individually and develop yourself

• UNIT 5 Clean and maintain internal surfaces and areas
• UNIT 6 Clean and maintain external surfaces and areas
• UNIT 7 Deal with routine waste
• UNIT 8 Clean washrooms and replenish supplies
• UNIT 9 Clean high risk areas
• UNIT 10 Clean confined spaces
• UNIT 11 Clean food areas
• UNIT 12 Deep clean equipment and surfaces
• UNIT 13 Clean, maintain and protect hard floors
• UNIT 14 Clean and maintain soft floors and furnishings
• UNIT 15 Clean glazed surfaces and façades
• UNIT 16 Deal with non-routine waste
• UNIT 17 Carry out maintenance and minor repairs
• UNIT 18 Perform street cleansing manually
• UNIT 19 Perform street cleansing by machine
• UNIT 20 Use a water-fed pole system to clean windows and façades
• UNIT 21 Work safely at heights
